When decorating the house don't just settle with adding fancy furniture or flowers or what ever. Maybe a carpet would be the best decoration item to add some character to the model? For example, try this one here. A black and purple carpet like that would fit just perfectly to a modern house but why not even to a medieval one. You'll never know if You don't try ;)
