If You are more of a mystic person and love dark scary and even dangerous places then I think a dead tree is a great choice to make things spooky. Just imagine a dark savanna, full moon on the sky, stars above Your head but there is nothing alive in the savanna, just a lot of creepy looking dead trees moving themselves in the night wind. It would be a great book to read, wouldn't it? But anyway if You have some ideas than involve dead trees then here You go :)
